The garden was a glory of huge poppies...

I now consider poppies to be my obsession.  Although I have done, and will do, different flora, my heart still aches to do poppies.  Vibrant colour applied with a palette knife on a black background, the poppies seem to jump right off the canvas.  The background is then brushed on to create a soft, out-of-focus look that complements the thickly laid-on paint of the petals.
